ABOUT GRAYS POINT PRESCHOOL

First established in 1974 at St Timothy’s Church, Grays Point Preschool was created by a dedicated group of parents who understood the importance of early childhood education.

Since officially opening at Grays Point Preschool Kindergarten in 1976, our Preschool has been managed by passionate parents from the community. Designed for children aged 3 to 6, we are funded by the Department of Education.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Grays Point Preschool we are honoured to gather on Dharawal land.  We pay our respect to this land and its custodians.

We treat children as competent and curious learners who are capable of making their own meaning of the world. We respect and value their unique thoughts and ideas.

We understand the importance of play-time to a child's discovery and learning and value being in the present moment. We subscribe to the Early Years Framework of Belonging, Being and Becoming and believe that "children’s learning is dynamic, complex and holistic”.

We champion kindness and empathy in peer relationships and encourage respectful interactions.

We value the family as the most important relationship in the child’s life, and respect the family's unique knowledge and understanding of their child. We collaborate and partner with families throughout our Preschool's curriculum and routines.

We champion the unique strengths and talents of our Educators, and support each child's unique learning style through spontaneous and planned experiences. Our interactions support children to be who they are, belong to communities and become all they can be.

We ensure children's voices make up a vital part of our Preschool curriculum. We guide the play and participation of children with practical ideas and strategies.

We cherish and celebrate the diversity that makes up our Preschool and wider community.

We appreciate the beauty and wonder of our nature, and encourage children and families to join us in our efforts to respect and protect our precious environment.
